ARTWALK
Chapel Street is teaming up with local art galleries during Provocaré to create an Artwalk for lovers of contemporary art and street art. Over the two consecutive Saturdays of the festival, attendees will discover the art in the laggeries and laneways which stretch along Chapel Street through Windsor, Prahran and South Yarra.
The event will begin at MARS Gallery's new rooftop scuplture garden, where guests will be greeted by gallery director Andy Dinan to view the latest exhibition of contemporary sulcpture including a laser beam projecting to planet Mars. Guests will be guided through the three levels of gallery space to view works by Jud Wimhurst, Troy Emery, Bronek Kozka, and an erotically unhinged video by Simon Pericich featuring a humanoid creature writhing in an infinite black night of falling stars.
As the Artwalk continues through the streets and laneways of Chapel Street Precinct you will discover Windor's version of Hosier Lane, and hear about the history of street art and why it has become a world-wide phenomenon.
And this is just a teaser of what Artwalk has in store to provoke, arouse, and challenge...
