Greek Island getaway.
Indulge in the Mediterranean way of life at Santorini on Oxford, perfectly positioned right in the heart of things on Darlinghurst’s Oxford Street.
Regarded by Sydney’s Greek community as the place to go for authentic home-cooked cuisine, Santorini on Oxford is always busy, particularly on weekends. Small and simple, the restaurant is stylishly decked out in traditional Greek taverna-style with turquoise blue paint, wooden chairs and wanderlust-inducing photos of the famous Santorini sunset adorning the walls. The focus is definitely on family recipe-style food here: tender chargrilled meats, salty feta salads and fresh seafood, handpicked daily by owner Dimitrios. It’s great value for money as the portions are enormous, best shared between two or even groups, and washed down with an imported Greek wine.
The atmosphere is friendly and fun; you’ll be entertained be rousing Greek music, people laughing over their ouzos and even the staff joining in the merriment by dancing around the kitchen. It’s the best of both worlds: Santorini meets Sydney!
