The devastating effects of Alzheimer's has struck a chord with a group of mature Perth models, who have embarked on a fundraising drive to raise awareness about the debilitating disease.

Backed by leading aged care provider Rosewood, the National Australia Bank and Crown, the group has produced a 1940s themed calendar, which will be launched at a high tea event on Sunday, October 29 at 2pm.

All proceeds of the calendar will be donated to Alzheimer’s WA.

AFL champion and former West Coast Eagle Glen Jakovich will share his deeply personal story about his mother, Mary, who lived with Alzheimer's before her death in 2010, at the high tea launch.

Alzheimer’s WA estimates that there are 39,600 people living with dementia in WA. Without a medical breakthrough that number could reach 69,000 by 2050.

Alzheimer’s WA provides support for people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers, including respite, counselling, education and social programs. It also works in partnership with community, aged, health and disability providers.
